Tomorrow is world mental health day, it is an important reminder that mental health is just as important as physical health. If you are struggling with your own mental health, please reach out to a friend, trusted adult or student services. Reaching out is a sign of strength, not weakness. Take this week as an opportunity to take care of your mind by going outdoors and putting your phone away.

Big congratulations to our Jr High Sr Volleyball teams who both played in the TVT tournament this weekend. The girls battled hard all weekend and finished 4th, and the boys won the Silver medal. Way to go Barons!

Do you have an excess of Winter clothing kicking around the house? Have you or your kids outgrown last year’s warm clothing? Consider donating it!
Last week we begun our "Winter Wellness - Social Justice". Every Wednesday over the next 5 weeks, we will be asking students to bring in a different winter clothing item for our community's at-risk populations, in particular, the unhoused. The students will have the next week to bring in the donation item to the chaplain office where they will be collected and donated to various community agencies (Marian Center, Society of St Vincent de Paul, and Sacred Heart Parish). Students will get service hours, depending on the week's item that they bring in.
Sept 23 - Toques/scarves (1 hour)
Oct 7 - Gloves (1 hour)
Oct 14 - Winter jackets (2 hour)
Oct 21 – Socks (brand new, never worn - 1 hour)
Oct 28 - Winter boots (2 hour)
Junior High students will be able to earn no more than 2 of their required 5 hours for this project, while the high school will be able to earn 4 of their required 10 hours.
The hope is that we will be able to greatly assist the ever-growing demand on these community outreach agencies, while also giving students an easily accessible avenue to participate meaningfully in a social justice initiative in which they will serve as the hands of the Holy Spirit.

¡Buenos días! Good morning! October is Latin American Heritage Month in Canada. Throughout the month the Spanish Bilingual students have prepared announcements to share facts, trivia, music and traditions in Latin America. You will also see these throughout the school TVs and through social media.
This month gives us the opportunity recognize and highlight the cultures, histories and contributions of Latin American communities, which includes more than 20 different countries and hundreds of Indigenous languages, along with Spanish and even Portuguese. Although these cultures share many connections, Latin America is incredibly diverse. There is no single Latin American food, accent, tradition or experience.

Today, we wear orange shirts to recognize National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and to honour the Indigenous children who were sent to residential schools.
Orange Shirt Day reminds us that Every Child Matters. It is a day to learn about the history and lasting impacts of residential schools, listen to Survivors and Indigenous voices, and think about how we can contribute to reconciliation.
Today during Barons Block, we will take time to learn about Truth and Reconciliation through a special lesson and activity. We encourage everyone to participate respectfully, ask questions, and take time to reflect on what reconciliation means to each of us. Thank you to everyone wearing orange today as we learn, remember, and work toward reconciliation.

Good morning! When Terry Fox first started planning the Marathon of Hope, his dream goal was to raise $1 million for cancer research. But after seeing how much people believed in him, he raised his goal to $24 million, one dollar per Canadian. Today, Terry’s legacy has raised over $1Billion worldwide. Let’s keep adding to that total!

Winter Social Justice Wellness
Get those items in to Mr. Faught in office 267 to earn service hours and be the hands of the holy spirit by keeping our community's at-risk populations warm this winter. This week is toques and scarves. Deadline for drop off is tomorrow. Go home and sort through your old winter clothing and donate the stuff that no longer fits.

Hey everyone! Fun fact for you – Terry Fox ran through heat waves, thunderstorms, windstorms, and freezing rain. One day, the winds in Newfoundland were so strong he said it felt like “running into a wall” but he still continued on as far as he could. Let’s channel that determination as we prepare for our Terry Fox Run and fundraising efforts!

Good morning Barons! As lead up to our Terry Fox run this Thursday, we'll be sharing some facts about Terry and the Marathon of Hope every morning this week. Did you know that before Terry Fox began running, his biggest passion was basketball. He practiced so hard that even after losing his leg, he made the varsity wheelchair basketball team and won three national championships. Terry teaches us that you don’t have to be perfect, you just have to try. Let’s bring that energy to our Terry Fox Run and do our very best!
