Scholarship Tips

  1. Start applying early - consider applying in the fall of your Grade 12 year.
  2. Create a list of your extracurricular activities, volunteer work, and awards.
  3. Do your research. Ask your families, friends, co-workers, and teachers, and search the internet.
  4. Get involved with your school and your community. While academics are important, not all scholarships are based solely on marks.
  5. When applying, take some time to "share your story". Why did you join a certain club or volunteer with an organization? Be prepared to share this in your essay.
  6. Go to scholarship information sessions and pick up some helpful tips.
  7. Do not wait till the last minute. Prepare a general essay and have your reference letters ready.
